 feature (such as PCI bus).

4)Changes in the operating system or new releases of service packs may cause incorrect operation.

5)It may fail to operate correctly when used together with a hub or other USB devices.

6)To handle large files such as uncompressed RDC-7 files or movies, it is recommended that
you use it on environments with a larger memory capacity.

sure that neither the computer nor the camera is transmitting data before ending the
connection, and then switch off the camera.

=Important=

1)Never disconnect the cable or switch off the camera while data is being transmitted
to/from the computer. It may adversely affect the camera or computer.

2)Do not use batteries for the camera, and use the AC adapter instead.
Particularly when large files such as uncompressed RDC-7 files or movies are
being handled, these take a long time to transmit. Should power failure occur
during transmission, the camera or computer may be adversely affected.

3)The camera does not operate with power supplied from the USB port.

4.Setting the COM port for USB connection ( Windows98 )

This driver treats the RDC-7 as a device that uses the COM port virtually.
If it competes with other devices for the COM port, it may fail to be recognized even if
the driver is installed correctly. Should this happen, change the connection conditions
according to the following procedure.

(1)Connect the RDC-7 and computer with the USB cable and then switch on the camera.
From the "Start" button, select "Setting" - "Control Panel"- "System" - "Device
Manager", and then open "Port (COM/LPT)".

(2)Select the "RICOH Camera Port" under the "Port (COM/LPT)" and then click the
"Properties" button.

(3)In the "Port Select" screen under the "Properties of RDC-7", change the COM
number to an unused one (COM5 - COM9). An asterisk is added at the end of the
port number in use.

5.	Updating
= Recovery procedure for questionable device =

If the USB cable is inserted and removed before the driver is installed or if installation
is halted midway and device fails to be recognized correctly, update the driver
according to the following procedure.

(1)Connect the RDC-7 and the computer with the USB cable and then switch on the
camera.

========Windows 98========
From the "Start" button, select "Setting" - "Control Panel" - "System" - "Device Manager".
========Windows 2000========
From the "Start" button, select "Setting" - "Control Panel" - "System" -"Hardware" - "Device Manager".

(2)Open the "Device Manager" screen and see if the questionable device mark "!" is
put on the "RICOH USB Virtual COM" under the "RICOH Camera Port" or
"Universal Serial Bus Controller", which are located under the "Port (COM/LPT)".

(3)Select the device with "!" mark and then click on "Delete". A confirmation screen is
displayed. Click on "OK".

(4)Switch off the camera and computer, and then switch them on again.

(5)Set the drive to the CD-ROM in which the USB driver is registered.

(6)Once the computer recognizes the camera, the "Add new hardware" wizard starts.
See the procedure for setting up as Plug & Play to install the driver.
